D5600 - same as D5300 but not so cheap, so not worth it?Įdited by Crono, 29 November 2021 - 08:24 AM. D5300 - cheap (300€), better quality, better SW support, no dark current patch. but it doesn't have the dark current firmware patch. I've seen that D5300 (300€) could be nice step up (both in quality and in support - no additional cable needed for bulb mode). I don't know if I want to join the cooled CMOS astrocams world, they still seem a bit expensive to me. I'm here to ask for some suggestions about a better camera the D7000 is nice but is somewhat buggy for remote bulb shutter function (requires 2 cables), and also the various software used (e.g., NINA with either native or ASCOM.DSLR - but the same happens with other SW) tend to crash when using this camera. I know I can do better, this is one of my first attempts at DSO photography. This is a picture (JPG/resized, sorry) taken with about 45圆0s ISO200 lights (plus about 30 minutes worth of time for darks, bias and flats), Bortle 7, no guide, worked on PI. The D7000 is living its second life, as I've used it a lot for normal photograpy until 2018, then put apart for some years.
Hi, I currently have a Nikon D7000 with firmware patch for dark current / star eating fixes, and I'm using it on a Skywatcher 150/750 and an EQ-5 mount with OnStep.
